Boler 1700 - Helene Joy

It was so much fun to work on a project for Helene Joy and restore this vintage boler 1700 into Helene’s set trailer as they film off location for CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries.

ORIGINAL INTERIOR

This boler is the 1700 model and had an all wood interior and the ensolite it came with was the more textured ”popcorn” type. It also came with a full bathroom, a stove/oven, propane heater and a 3-way fridge/freezer.

The 1700’s are a lot roomier than the 13ft and 15ft models and weigh around 2600-2800lbs.

TEARDOWN BEGINS

The team did a great job with the teardown and removed all the old ensolite. They then took a wire wheel to the interior fiberglass walls and removed all the old glue, residue and stubborn remnants. They then sanded the interior fiberglass to a smooth finish and got it ready for me to spray the Lizard Skin Nano Ceramic Insulation.

LIZARD SKIN INSULATION

It is a water based Nano Ceramic insulation that provides a thermal break and as well as some R-Value. It is sprayed on and can be painted over.
